One of the daunting questions that every student has to ask themselves, after completing their university course is “What place of work is ideal for me as a new graduate?”
Every year when the new year rolls around, I fall into the same old trap of making too many resolutions and I’m sure 99% of you are the same!
Taking notes in lectures can be an extremely effective method of learning, as it forces you to pay attention to what the teacher is saying, in order to make your notes at all useful.
Another benefit to note taking arises as you near exam period, as it it easier to understand things you have written yourself, over a standard textbook.
Finding the perfect amount of participation, however, can be a tricky business. So here are some tips to help you along:
It’s almost guaranteed that when a teacher or professor walks into a classroom of students and announces an upcoming exam, the response will be a general groan throughout the room. And why? Because the majority of students have come to associate the word “test” or “exam” with a stressful situation, in which a teacher asks you difficult questions you just can’t quite remember the answer to.
From the moment that a child starts at school, they are almost brainwashed into thinking that there is a “right” way to study or complete a homework assignment. Unfortunately, if you suffer with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), attempting to study using the traditional methods can be very challenging and frustrating.
Physiology and Anatomy are two subjects that many find difficult to study, not because the material is any more difficult than you would imagine, but simply because of the sheer amount of information there is to study. New students starting these classes often have a difficult time adjusting, as each subject requires quite a lot of “out of class” study.

The area you choose to study in has more of an impact on your study habits than you might think: if the room is too small, you’ll feel more pressured; if it’s a mess, you’ll feel disorganised; if the walls are covered in posters, you’ll be easily distracted; but on the other hand, if the room is too plain, you’ll lack the motivation to really put your head down and work hard.
As a student, I am always looking for new ways to save some money, just some extra cash to add to the study funds! Throughout my further education, I have worked, saved and tried various ways to stay on budget, something that many people find difficult.
Here is how I manage my finances and stick to a strict budget, without deviating… well not by much!
